Force 3 Awards Two Anne Arundel County Seniors with College Scholarships
Crofton, MD (PRWEB) July 19, 2013 -- Force 3, delivering the best in federal security, unified communications, networks, data center, and medical imaging solutions, announced yesterday the two winners for its scholarship competition for high school seniors. Aarushi “Ashi” Park and Vaughn Jackson, who goes by Alex, each received $4,000 to pursue an education in a technical field.
The Force 3 Foundation holds an annual scholarship competition to support deserving students in Anne Arundel County. High school students who are planning to attend an accredited college, university, or technical school as a full-time student pursuing a career in a technical field are eligible for the scholarships.
Each applicant is required to submit an essay illustrating their own academic achievements, commitment to community service, and future educational and career goals. A Force 3 scholarship panel reviews the applications and conducts interviews with eligible students to determine the winners. This year’s winners are Ashi Park and Alex Jackson.
“As accomplished students and leaders, Ashi and Alex have both shown tremendous potential for making significant contributions to the technology and engineering industries,” said Les Trachtman, Chief Executive Officer at Force 3. “We are proud of their achievements and thrilled to help them further their education and achieve their career goals.”
During her high school career at Arundel High School, Ashi Park founded and led Kenya Venture, a non-profit project under Kenya Connect that created an international book club between students in the U.S. and Kenya. She was also a member of the National Honor Society and a peer mentor. This fall, she will attend the University of Maryland Honors College to pursue her degree in chemical engineering.
Alex Jackson was accepted as part of the early action program at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, where he will participate in the new Cyber Scholars program. He plans to earn his undergraduate degree in computer science and then pursue a masters degree in cyber security. Alex was an academic tutor, as well as a member of the National Honor Society and cinema appreciation club while attending Annapolis Area Christian School.
This is the 7th year that Force 3 has awarded its college scholarships, giving out a total of 17 scholarships thus far.
