UN Foundation’s Calvin: McCarthy will help EPA Tackle Toughest Issues of our Time
Washington, DC (PRWEB) July 19, 2013 -- The U.S. Senate voted yesterday to confirm Gina McCarthy as the next Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency; she currently serves as the Assistant Administrator of the Office of Air and Radiation.
UN Foundation President and CEO, Kathy Calvin, issued the following statement:
“Gina McCarthy is a superb choice to head the Environmental Protection Agency. She will be a star in President Obama’s Cabinet. She is extremely well qualified in terms of experience and temperament to carry forward the President's climate action agenda. Approval of her nomination by the Senate restores hope that this complex and critical issue can be addressed constructively by Congress on a bipartisan basis.
“McCarthy will take the role of EPA Administrator at a time when Americans are looking to their government – and people around the world are looking to the United States -- for leadership on climate change. A strong agenda at home will strengthen the American hand in discussions at the United Nations and with allies as we tackle one of the most important issues we face.”
