TROY created the division in July 2012 to focus on the company’s healthcare technology capabilities, addressing the call for enhanced secure information technology solutions in healthcare. The year has been marked by 21% sales growth, more than 100 new customers, staffing increases, state legislative support and new partnerships with leading electronic health records systems (EHR) providers.
In 2008, TROY leveraged decades of expertise in secure printing to develop healthcare applications by offering SecureRx printers, specially designed to securely print prescriptions that met a new Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) prescription security requirement. Since then, TROY expanded its healthcare line with TROY Secure Print Enterprise (TSPE), a powerful software platform that integrates with EHR systems to produce secure printed prescriptions that comply with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements. Healthcare facilities can realize a return on investment within six to 12 months, as more than 200 TROY TSPE users have realized.
TROY healthcare solutions have been instrumental in assisting facilities as they attain Meaningful Use (MU) objectives by adding secure printing capabilities to EHR systems. Meaningful Use, a federal program that incentivizes facilities that use EHR systems to enhance patient care records, calls for electronic patient-centric recordkeeping and communication between providers. While it’s estimated that eventually 80% of all prescriptions will be sent electronically due to MU incentive requirements, healthcare providers are finding multiple scenarios that require issuance of prescriptions on paper. TROY secure print solutions have been integrated with most major EHR system providers to eliminate inefficiencies and gaps in compliance and document security that exist when printing is required. TROY has completed more than 80 software installations since formation of the healthcare division.
In early 2013, TROY teamed with mobility solutions provider ACS MediHealth to ensure Meditech EHR system users experience no gaps in prescription generation security; ACS MediHealth joins Dell as TROY’s Meditech solutions partner. Also this year, TROY announced that its solutions had been successfully integrated with McKesson Horizon and Paragon systems. To accommodate growth and provide additional consultation to customers, TROY added a national sales manager and dedicated healthcare sales account executive to its experienced staff of healthcare solutions specialists.
In another 2013 gain for TROY, Tennessee enacted into law Tennessee House Bill 319 approving a measure to authorize printing prescriptions on plain paper using products like TROY’s. The action clarifies a prior law about tamper-resistant prescription requirements, permitting prescriptions created with technology that results in a tamper-resistant prescription. Tennessee legislation represents endorsement of approaches like TROY’s, which secure prescription issuance and provide a layer of protection from loss and liability. Since several states still retain “paper-only” laws, TROY continues to offer Security printers to ensure prescription paper security.
