Holywood, CA (PRWEB) July 22, 2013 -- Emmy-award winning Hollywood director Rob Schiller has always believed in lending support to organizations that provide assistance to needy and at risk youngsters and families. This summer, Schiller’s philanthropic activities included participating in two fundraising poker tournaments which support several non-profit community organizations in Los Angeles.
Along with 70 other Texas Hold'em enthusiasts and supporters who turned up at the Commerce Casino for the 10th Annual Poker Tournament hosted by The Saban Free Clinic, Schiller was among the top place finishers. The clinic provides dependable and affordable quality health care in a caring environment to the underserved and those who are at risk.
Last week, Schiller joined 2011 Senior World Series of Poker Champion Jim Hess, community supporters and poker enthusiasts for another popular poker tournament also held at the Commerce Casino. The exciting day of camaraderie and intense poker continued Schiller’s heritage of supporting local and global environmental causes.
“I am proud to support the work of The Saban Free Clinic and the Jewish National Fund, because both of these worthwhile organizations provide a safety net for the children and families in our community,” said Schiller.
A humanitarian dedicated to making a difference in the lives of the less fortunate, Schiller has become well known for his philanthropic efforts throughout Los Angeles County and the nation, using his talents to be a renowned advocate for the health and welfare of families and children in need.
Schiller has worked tirelessly to support a variety of organizations including Harvest Home, a nonprofit organization that provides assistance to homeless, expecting mothers. He’s other philanthropic efforts include supporting The Alliance for Children’s Rights and the Maximum Hope Foundation. Schiller is the co-founder of the Devon Stern/UCP Golf Tournament, a successful annual fundraising event that has generated over $300,000 for children with cerebral palsy.
