Remember The Miners Participates in Reach The Summit Community Service Initiative
Nicholas County, West Virginia (PRWEB) July 19, 2013 -- Remember The Miners President Jason Parsons, as well as other representatives and Scholars Program recipients, are participating in a day of service with the Reach The Summit Community Service Initiative. They are volunteering in Nicholas County, whose Chairman Steve Antoline is a Remember The Miners board member.
The Remember The Miners team will be working alongside the WVU Football team to give back to the communities of Nicholas County. They will be working on projects at the Summersville Elementary School.
“It’s an honor to give back alongside the WVU football team to a state that has provided us with so much,” began Jason, adding, “Service is a pillar of Remember The Miners’ commitment to community, and to have Scholars joining us makes the experience even more meaningful.”
The Remember The Miners Scholars Program was created in 2011 to provide financial aid to miners, dependents of miners, and students pursuing higher education in the mining industry. Remember The Miners and the West Virginia Coal Foundation created the Scholars Program to support families of the West Virginia mining community. Awardees of the scholarship are miners, dependents of miners, or students pursuing higher education in the mining industry.
