The Chronicle of Higher Education Names Embry-Riddle a “Great College to Work For” Again
(PRWEB) July 19, 2013 -- For the third year in a row, Embry-Riddle has been ranked among the nation’s “Great Colleges to Work For” by The Chronicle of Higher Education, the country’s most respected publication covering colleges and universities.
This year The Chronicle rates Embry-Riddle highly in the categories of Facilities, Workspace & Security and Work/Life Balance.
The results are based primarily on a survey of more than 44,000 employees at colleges and universities nationwide, with only 97 institutions achieving “Great College to Work For” recognition for their best practices and policies.
The Chronicle will publish its full report on this year’s top schools at http://chronicle.com on July 22 and in its July 26 print edition.
“The institutions that the Great Colleges program honors provide innovative educational experiences while also offering their employees outstanding workplace experiences, and we are eager to help readers learn more about them,” said Liz McMillen, The Chronicle’s editor.
Embry-Riddle is widely acknowledged as an exceptional employer. The university was recognized as one of the “Top 50 Companies to Work for in Arizona” earlier this year, one of the “100 Best Places to Work in Arizona” in 2012 and one of Arizona’s “Most Admired Companies” in 2011, based on employer and employee data compiled by BestCompaniesAZ.
In addition, the Orlando Sentinel has announced it will name the university one of Central Florida’s “Top 100 Companies for Working Families” later this year for the ninth consecutive time. Florida Trend magazine has ranked Embry-Riddle among Florida’s “Best Companies to Work For” three times in the last four years.
“Our selection as a Great College to Work For is a gratifying affirmation that Embry-Riddle is a community where the needs and contributions of every individual are valued,” said University President Dr. John P. Johnson. “In that sense, everyone at Embry-Riddle helps to make this a great place to work.”
Embry-Riddle employs over 2,500 faculty, staff and administrators worldwide. Benefits include several paid holidays, including the week off between Christmas and New Year’s Day, a generous personal leave program, a four-day summer workweek, a 403(b) retirement plan with Embry-Riddle gift and matching contribution, health insurance with vision and dental coverage, a telecommuting option and a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program. A tuition waiver program offers free tuition to employees and family members, with employees allowed paid time off to attend Embry-Riddle classes.
About The Chronicle of Higher Education and “Great Colleges to Work For”
The Chronicle is the nation’s leading source of news, information and jobs for college and university faculty members and administrators. Its “Great Colleges to Work For” program has become one of the largest and most respected workplace-recognition programs in the nation. The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institutional audit that captures demographics and workplace policies from each institution, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators and professional support staff. Employee feedback is the primary factor in deciding whether an institution receives recognition. Visit http://chronicle.com for more information.
