Hollywood Comes to Thomasville North Carolina’s Favorite Restaurant -Southern Sisters
Thomasville, NC (PRWEB) July 20, 2013 -- A town long known for its furniture making may soon be known for its great southern cooking through a weekly television series. Southern Sisters’ Restaurant, a favorite spot in Thomasville, NC will be featured in weekly episodes of the series, A Prescription for Healthy Lifestyles on Family Net/Rural TV Network.
The film crew traveled to Thomasville recently to film several episodes at the well-known local restaurant. The show is hosted by Edie Hand, TV host and nationally known author of more than 20 books. This season’s show will include a new co-host for many of the segments, Joy Hall Thompson, owner of The Southern Sisters’ Restaurant and Thomasville business woman. Many segments were filmed at The Southern Sisters’ restaurant on Main Street in Thomasville, NC.
The weekly 30 minute Family Net/ Rural TV Network series will be aired in over 20 million homes beginning July 21st. Each week, the series will provide strategies for a healthier life. The segments topics range from dancing, music, family life to paying it forward, along with cooking tips and recipes from Edie and Joy. The show is known for its story-telling magic in each weekly segment.
The choice of filming location was aided by Clifton Lambreth, a former Thomasville resident and CEO of Daniel Bradley Matthews who was dining at The Southern Sisters’ Restaurant when he met Joy and her husband Chris. He had worked on various television shows and thought that Joy and Southern Sisters would be the perfect addition to one of these shows. Mr. Lambreth said “I could tell Joy would be great on TV and I thought this show could be a great way to highlight the town where I grew up.” After the filming, Mr. Lambreth said, “The chemistry between Edie and Joy was magic on the set and we all knew this would be a hit.”
The weekly series will begin airing this week on Sunday July 21st at 2:30 pm (EST). The selection of Thomasville N.C. as site for the filming of the show is another example of good news after it was named a 2013 All American City. The city continues to reinvent itself following the departure of many of the furniture and textile companies originally located there.
