U-T San Diego Hires Steven Greenhut of the Franklin Center as California Columnist
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) July 22, 2013 -- U-T San Diego makes a dynamic move by hiring Steven Greenhut as a California Columnist starting Monday July 22nd. A highly respected author and columnist, Steven Greenhut will be working for UT San Diego Government and Politics Editor Michael Smolens. Based in Sacramento, Greenhut will write about state government, politics and issues of statewide importance.
Editor and Vice President of Content, Jeff Light stated, “Steven is one of the state’s most original voices. He is an independent, even courageous thinker and a dogged reporter. In his U-T column he’ll cover the capitol and California at large. Steven has an unflinching style that is sure to make some waves.” Greenhut formerly was Vice President of Journalism at the Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity, where he managed a team of 35 investigative reporters and editors who covered state capitols across the country. He founded CalWatchdog in 2009, which provided Sacramento-based investigative news coverage and he writes regularly for publications including Reason, Human Events, Bloomberg and City Journal. He is author of the 2009 book, "Plunder! How Public Employee Unions Are Raiding Treasuries, Controlling Our Lives And Bankrupting the Nation".
Currently, the U-T San Diego Editorial Board, in partnership with the Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity, have introduced a project titled Fixing California, which they hope will help change the direction of California. Greenhut played a critical role in launching this program, which is a collaborative project of editorials and independent commentaries about the many problems tarnishing the Golden State and the changes required before it becomes a failed state.
