Gail Giovanniello PMA® CPT Presents a Two-Hour Pilates UES Workshop "Why the Spine Corrector?... Exercise the Answer" as Part of On-Going In-House Special Pilates Classes
(PRWEB) July 23, 2013 -- Gail Giovanniello PMA® CPT - owner of Mind Your Body Pilates UES - will present an In-House Training for a special Pilates prop: "Why the Spine Corrector?... Exercise the Answer" on Thursday, August 22nd from 12-2 PM. The training, which is designed to further the expertise of the staff of Pilates teachers at Mind Your Body Pilates UES, is also open to anyone who would like to deepen their knowledge of how Pilates can assist the body with becoming adept in all ranges of spinal movement and anyone interested in the general health of the spine.
Another name for the Spine Corrector is Pilates Arc. The shape of the molded form allows the body to move the spine through curves which allow and even encourage the vertebrae to self-correct alignment issues. Pilates exercises can be performed such as rolling the spine back and forth in supine position or performing side-bending torso movements to arch and extend the vertebrae more safely than working on a flat surface which sometimes promotes unnecessary and even dangerous flattening-out of the natural spinal lengthening curves. The Spine Corrector can support the vertebrae while spinal arching or rounding shapes are sustained in stationary curves and the arms and legs move or the Spine Corrector can give the shape for the spine to follow while actively extending and flexing.
Gail Giovanniello, Director of the newly-forged MindYourBodyPilates Training Center, which will have in-house workshops for Pilates Continuing Education as well as Pilates Teacher Training states:
"The Spine Corrector was used a lot in the first studio I worked at in 1995. It seemed to resurface as the 'Pilates Arc' with a lot of fitness-style exercises. I am re-introducing this wonderful apparatus to my staff as the 'Spine Corrector' and will demonstrate why it is referred to as such. The exercises are very telling."
A one-minute video showing the form of the Pilates Arc or Spine Corrector and a sampling of spinal movements and natural lumbar curve or neutral spine-supported deep abdominal exercises can be viewed on the Pilates NYC channel in: Pilates Spine Corrector - Mind Your Body Pilates UES - Pilates Arc -- Pilates Classes UES.
In these teacher trainings, as well as in other regular offerings both for instructors and clients, Gail's commitment to ongoing Pilates continuing education can always be viewed on the Pilates Teacher Training & Workshops tab on the Mind Your Body website which regularly lists upcoming In-House Trainings which are given for the Mind Your Body Pilates teaching staff but are also available ot the general public.
