Appfluent Appoints IBM Netezza Big Data Executive as VP, Corporate Development & Strategy
Rockville, MD (PRWEB) July 23, 2013 -- Appfluent Technology Inc., a provider of Big Data analytic usage solutions, today announced that Shawn Dolley has been named Vice President, Corporate Development & Strategy. Dolley has over 15 years of experience in the analytics, Big Data, and Hadoop markets. He joins Appfluent from IBM, where he was Vice President and General Manager, Public Sector Hadoop. He will be responsible for expanding Appfluent’s presence as companies migrate more and more analytics to Hadoop, in addition to bringing innovative new products to market.
“Shawn’s extensive industry experience in Big Data and analytics will enable Appfluent to accelerate partnership, vertical market and solution expansion,” said Frank Gelbart, CEO of Appfluent. “We’re extremely excited to have Shawn on the team. We will leverage his expertise in the growing Hadoop marketplace to drive value for the most data intensive enterprises globally.”
“There is a once-in-a-generation shift right now with companies adding Hadoop to their ‘single database’ standard platform for analytics,” says Dolley. “Optimizing where to place data requires vision into the questions business people have been asking historically. Appfluent is the only company that can parse the corpus of a company’s business intelligence history and recommend where to go next. That’s why companies like Union Bank, Pfizer, and UPMC use Appfluent.”
Prior to IBM, Dolley was Vice President and General Manager of Healthcare and Life Sciences at Netezza, which was acquired by IBM in 2010. Before Netezza, he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Vision Chain (now Orchestro). Dolley was the sole founder of Vision Chain in 1999. Prior to Vision Chain, he spent four years at Microstrategy, working in business consulting, product marketing, sales engineering, education, and working directly with CEO Michael Saylor on select strategic sales cycles.
Appfluent was included in Database Trends and Applications (DBTA) magazine’s inaugural list of “100 Companies that Matter Most in Data”. The company is committed to transforming the economics of data warehousing by pinpointing underutilized data, optimizing the most frequently used data and enabling firms to make the smart move to Hadoop and Big Data.
