The aim of the event was to discuss issues in order to tackle carbon monoxide, as well as to encourage innovation, share ideas of best practice and develop new partnerships.

According to HVP on July 19, the IGEM and Wales & West Utilities’ one day event ‘Carbon Monoxide: Ignorance can be Fatal’ took place on July 11.

The event saw two hundred representatives from a number of industries and organisations attend, including those from the fire service, medical profession and charities. The aim of the event was to discuss issues in order to tackle carbon monoxide, as well as to encourage innovation, share ideas of best practice and develop new partnerships.

Figures from the medical, regulation and gas industries gave presentations on campaigns to prevent deaths caused by carbon monoxide and detailed case studies of those affected by carbon monoxide poisoning.

The event came after a report by the All Party Parliamentary Carbon Monoxide Group was published making 17 recommendations to the industry and government to help address the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning throughout the UK.
