Romeo's Pizza is Title Sponsor of the 3rd Annual Rush for a Cause Family Sports Blitz
Medina, Ohio (PRWEB) July 24, 2013 -- Rush for a Cause is proud to announce their 3rd annual Family Sports Blitz fundraiser to raise awareness and support for catastrophically injured student athletes and to help promote injury prevention. The foundation is about Athletes Helping Athletes. Romeo's Pizza is title sponsor of this event.
The Sports Blitz will be held on Saturday, August 17 at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School located at 6380 Mill Road in Broadview Heights, Ohio. There will be 125 youth football teams, 70 volleyball teams, flag and adult rugby teams and soccer teams participating in the event. The event will be fun for all ages and include food, music, games and all day entertainment. The legendary Jim Tressel, a supporter of Rush for a Cause, will make an appearance and be available for photos with the young athletes.
Rush for a Cause was started in 2009 by Matt Galland, who was the Brecksville-Broadview Heights running back, after a fellow football player was tragically injured in a routine tackle and left paralyzed. Matt is continuing his education, football and service of his country at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.
"Rush for a Cause is making a difference and we couldn't do it without the generosity of our sponsors and donors. Together, we can let these athletes know that they have not been forgotten and that we care" said Debbie Galland, Matt's mom and President of the non-profit. The recipients whose lives have been touched by Rush for a Cause include quadriplegics, paraplegics, amputees and those suffering from traumatic brain injury. Out-of-pocket expenses for the medical and therapy needs of these athletes are astronomical, typically the first year after injury ranging from $750,000 to well over $1 million. "It's a tremendous and stressful financial situation for the entire family and they are humbled and genuinely touched by the generosity and compassion that we give--it's truly about GIVING BACK, SELFLESSLY", said Debbie.
Romeo's Pizza is Title Sponsor of the event. Other sponsors include Dick's Sporting Goods, Cleveland Clinic Sports Health, Chick-fil-A in Macedonia and Merrill Lynch.
