Verndale Launches NYSUT’s New Responsive Website
Boston, MA (PRWEB) July 23, 2013 -- Verndale, an award-winning digital marketing agency, is pleased to announce the launch of New York State United Teachers’ (NYSUT) newly redesigned, responsive, website - nysut.org. Affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers and the National Education Association, NYSUT is comprised of more than 600,000 teachers and school-related professionals. To provide their members with a seamless web experience, NYSUT was looking to enhance its presence with a clean architecture, refined content structure and responsive design for mobile accessibility.
Verndale and NYSUT executed the project under a co-development model. NYSUT developers worked alongside the Verndale team executing tasks as fully integrated members of the project. The knowledge gained during the partnership will allow NYSUT to better maintain and support the site over the long-term due to the extensive hands-on experience they gained during development.
“Co-developing this website with the Verndale team gave us immense knowledge and confidence to tackle anything on the Sitecore platform going forward,” said Madeline Connolly, director of information technology at NYSUT. “Working closely with Verndale was a great opportunity to tap into their technical knowhow; it was truly a partnership that we look forward to carrying on in upcoming projects.”
As part of the project, NYSUT wanted to move to a more advanced content management system (CMS). Verndale interviewed NYSUT’s key stakeholders to determine which CMS platform would best fit the organization’s short and long-term objectives. In the end, Sitecore 6.5 was selected as the best fit. In addition, NYSUT wanted to migrate most of their previous website content to fit in their new organizational structure. Verndale used Kapow, a content migration tool, to move almost 12,000 content items from NYSUT’s pervious site in just two weeks.
“NYSUT has a diverse set of members and other groups that access the site for the latest information, reports and data,” said Chris Pisapia, northeast managing partner at Verndale. “We knew that NYSUT needed a robust platform to meet the needs of their ecosystem. A modern CMS, a responsive design that reflects increasing mobile usage and a clean architecture were all critical factors in this project.”
