Corepoint Integration Engine Receives 2013 IHE USA Certification After Meeting Rigorous Security and Interoperability Requirements
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) July 23, 2013 -- Corepoint Integration Engine was awarded 2013 IHE USA Certification as part of a new healthcare certification program to help address one of the industry’s most challenging issues – the incompatibility of software and IT systems.
The certification program, a joint initiative of IHE USA and ICSA Labs, builds on specifications of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT. The program gives purchasers of health IT products independent assurance that certified programs are suitable for health data exchange and have met rigorous testing requirements for security and interoperability. Only eight health IT vendors received certification in 2013.
“Products that are certified for IHE USA interoperability bring tremendous value to the entire healthcare ecosystem,” said Joyce Sensmeier, president of IHE USA and vice president of Informatics at HIMSS. “As an industry, we need to set a high bar if we are to rise to the challenge of transforming our healthcare system. For the health IT vendors that have achieved IHE USA certification this means their integration capabilities go beyond minimum federal requirements to deliver more robust, higher quality, standards-based products.”
Corepoint Integration Engine was certified in the following Profiles under the IHE IT Infrastructure Domain: Cross-Enterprise Document Sharing (XDS.b), Patient Identifier Cross Referencing (PIX), Patient Demographics Query (PDQ), Cross-Community Access (XCA), Consistent Time (CT), and Audit Trail and Node Authentication (ATNA).
Corepoint Health VP of Marketing Jon Mertz said IHE USA Certification is important for healthcare providers looking to establish connectivity in ACOs or HIEs because IHE USA defines key profiles used to identify patients, exchange data, and keep the data secure. A key challenge of health information exchange is actively exchanging health data with outside organizations that often use disparate information systems and electronic health records.
"Corepoint Health is committed to creating and supporting quality products that help our customers succeed in their healthcare interoperability initiatives. This certification reflects that commitment and is made possible by our talented team," said Mertz. "Corepoint Integration Engine is regularly ahead of the industry curve with regards to features and functionality, and that is a byproduct of a company culture dedicated to truly listening to our customers and being proactive in the health IT market."
