Surrounded By The Horrors of Reality and Fiction in Cleveland
Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) July 24, 2013 -- Andrea Garth has lived in Cleveland, Ohio her entire life and can rightfully express the terrible events that she has seen over the years. "I live only three miles from where serial killer Anthony Sowell murdered 11 women and only six miles from where Ariel Castro held three women captive. Every time I've walked down the street I've always taken a number of precautions. You kind of feel uneasy when you see someone walking along the same side as you. Every car that slows down, every glance someone makes at you feels like a threat."
For the past seven years Andrea has written about many of the ills of urban life in her first book in the Pitchforked Halo Series, “A Dagger in the Clouds.” “I add a science fiction and supernatural natural twist to my stories to depict a wide array of societal and family ills that many within the African-American community can relate to. Life is full of surprises. Some of those surprises are good, humorous, and unfortunately many have been downright horrific. That is the approach I take with my stories. The downs are just as shocking as the ups."
Two of the books from the Pitchforked Halo Series are available for free reading on the website blackarrival.com. Comments concerning dysfunction and oppressive strongholds in our families and communities that have furthered urban decay within many neighborhoods can be posted on the blog linked on the the blackarrival website. "As someone who has tried to help the next generation with their struggles, I want the discussion to be open through my stories about how we can make our communities, families, and friends better and stronger."
