Kappa Delta Pi Educational Foundation Awards Scholarships
Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) July 24, 2013 -- The Kappa Delta Pi Educational Foundation is pleased to announce awards totaling more than $32,000 in scholarships to assist educators with expenses, including tuition, textbooks, and teaching resources. The annual scholarship program honored 29 members of the Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education, who are studying at various stages in their careers—undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and practicing educators. The funds awarded help students who are struggling financially to complete their degrees and secure teaching positions.
Brooklyn Misenhelder, Harold D. Drummond Scholarship winner, wrote: “This scholarship was such a blessing! It came at just the right time to help me get through my last year of college.”
Each scholarship application was blind-reviewed by three reviewers who used an established rubric for scoring. Reviewers, who are all members of Kappa Delta Pi, represented all geographical locations and levels of experience in education.
These endowed scholarships are made possible through generous donations of educators to support the future of education. Donors select the name for the scholarship and designate the conditions that applicants must meet. Scholarships are awarded on an annual basis, in perpetuity, from interest earned on the endowment while the principal of the fund remains intact.

“I am very grateful to have been recognised by KDP and to have been given this scholarship,” wrote Jason Heap. “I would ask all members of KDP to please help support the Foundation Scholarship programme's endeavours by giving something, as it assists in new research from our own members. You never know where your support may be making an impact: it might be somewhere in the US, or in my case, within overseas' contexts.”
