New Robotic Surgery Simulation Training Courses available at MimicMED
Celebration, Florida (PRWEB) July 24, 2013 -- As part of a strategic alliance partnership between Mimic Technologies and Florida Hospital, a simulation-based curricula has been developed to accelerate the adoption of the latest robotic technologies, techniques, and surgical skill expertise.
Just minutes from Disney World, the new 54,000 square-foot facility houses state-of-the-art equipment, and brings together physicians, clinical industry leaders, medical societies, and researchers to advance technology and procedures utilized in minimally invasive laparoscopic, robotic, and simulation procedures
The new courses focus on developing core robotic skills, including: EndoWrist® Manipulation, Camera & Clutching Control, Energy & Dissection, and Needle Driving & Suturing.
Equipped with Mimic’s superior simulation software, training experts help identify areas for surgeon improvement and hone robotic surgery skills and system awareness.
The training center houses eleven of Mimic’s advanced dV-Trainers utilized for half- and full day simulation courses, and Mimic’s innovative dry-labs (MLabs) help learners transition from simulated environments to actual hands-on practice on the robot. Robotic surgery simulation courses provide 7.75 CMEs for surgeons who attend.
“The recent debate on robotic surgery has focused too much on bad outcomes, lawsuits, and aggressive marketing. We feel that the discussion should focus more on potential solutions and how to build successful robotics programs” explains Todd M. Larson, Director, Mimic Medical Education & Development. “This is a great technology; however, surgeon training is key."
Earlier this Summer, Australian GYN Surgeons visited to the Nicholson Center for a very full week of robotic surgery training with MimicMED.
Here’s a look at their itinerary:
Monday: Full Day of Simulation on the Mimic dV-Trainer.
Tuesday: Participated in Dr. Advincula’s Robotic GYN Course on Advanced Complexity Procedures.
Wednesday: Robotic GYN Case Observation in the Operating Room at Florida Hospital Celebration Health as part of Dr. Advincula’s Robotic GYN Course on Advanced Complexity Procedures.
Thursday: Intuitive Surgical Training, OR Case Observation, and Simulation.
Friday: Intuitive Surgical Training & OR Case Observation.
Courses happen monthly with the next scheduled simulation course on August 12, 2013 .
