Of these, a list of 42 nominees was compiled on Startup50.com. Readers were invited to vote for their favorites.
During this round of voting, more than 11,000 readers voted for their favorite Big Data startups. This vote was given a weight of 30 percent in determining the list of the Top 10 Hot Big Data Startups to Watch. Other factors used in determining the Top 10 included funding, the pedigree of the management team, and the viability of the startup’s roadmap.
Once the Top 10 were named, readers were invited to vote again to determine the final rankings. More than 4,000 readers voted in this round. As with the previous round of voting, although the vote tallies were heavily weighted in determining the final rankings, other criteria including the number of big-name customers, VC funding totals, the pedigree of the management team, and market positioning were considered to determine the final rankings.
