New Rick Otton Podcast Features Student Success Stories
(PRWEB) July 23, 2013 -- Real estate educator Rick Otton’s successful students keep sharing their tales of property magic in a recently released Creative Real Estate podcast. In this episode, Calvin and Lynne share their story about getting started with property investment the Rick Otton way.
Calvin, originally from South Africa, and Lynne, who hails from Scotland, met in sunny Perth, Western Australia, in 2005 and bonded over a shared interest in property. Both were interested in real estate investment, and together they spent time researching the market, investigating renovation, development and other options. But both felt something was missing.
“We did our research, but there wasn’t really anything we felt we could put into action. It was just textbook stuff, and the goals seemed unrealistic,” said Lynne.
All that changed one Sunday. Initially going along to a Rick Otton property seminar for something to do, both Lynne and Calvin were blown away.
“We thought, wow, this is what we were waiting for. We had to try it – and we did try it, and there’ve been no regrets,” said Lynne.
Golden nuggets
During the podcast, Lynne and Calvin offer some golden nuggets of advice for anyone starting out with Mr Otton’s methods.
- Just get in there and do it. Don’t be nervous, because the system really works.
- Don’t worry about your mistakes, because you’ll learn from them. And don’t forget about those deals which didn’t work the first time – keep them in the hopper, because a lot of those people come back to you later on.
- Believe in what you’re doing, because when you believe in it, it all falls into place.
Solving people’s property problems
Now professional property investors, Calvin and Lynne agree that one of the tricky parts is explaining to friends and family what they do.
“Basically, what we do is we say that we solve people’s property problems,” said Calvin.
This echoes a key theme of Mr Otton’s property investment strategies.
“At its core, property investing has nothing to do with property. It’s actually about solving a property problem for people. The house is just the widget, the way you solve that problem,” said Mr Otton.
Ahead for Lynne and Calvin in 2013 is a focus on property and building on their base. Both agree that their confidence has grown, and they will use that newfound confidence to do a lot more deals and give more opportunities to people.
