Jobcentre Plus and the National Skills Academy for Environmental Technologies have begun working together to support plumbers, heating engineers and electricians in finding employment, reports H & V News on July 18 in the article ‘Support for Unemployed Plumbers, Heating Engineers and Electricians’.
Those interested in benefitting from this new partnership can take courses covering a range of topics, such as environmental awareness and solar thermal hot water.
The National Skills Academy executive director Cathryn Hickey told H & V News that:
“We are really pleased to be working in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, to deliver the ‘Supporting the Unemployed into Employment Programme’. Installers who complete the up-skilling courses available will be able to prove their ability and meet legislative requirements and acquire skills in the latest technologies and techniques.”
Renowned for their Harrow plumbers, the specialists at We Fix Now keep up to date with industry developments and were interested in this news. A representative for the company shared their thoughts on the news:
“It is welcome news that a scheme has been put in place to offer support to those who are unemployed in the industry. The plumbing industry is continually developing and courses which allow plumbers, engineers and electricians to build on their skills and learn about the latest technologies helps the industry continue to evolve. This opportunity to build on skills also helps to ensure that a highly qualified workforce continues to work in the industry. We look forward to seeing how this scheme impacts the future of the industry.”
