Spikes Presents Secure Web Browser Solution at Black Hat USA 2013 Workshop
(PRWEB) July 23, 2013 -- Spikes, a Silicon Valley based cybersecurity company, today announced that it will present two workshops on its breakthrough browser security technology at Black Hat USA 2013, taking place July 27 - August 1 at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, NV. After decades of development, the browser remains one of the largest internet security vulnerabilities for businesses, and Spikes’ unique approach to these threats is creating a remote solution through network and hardware isolated virtual browsers. The Spikes remote browser ensures that malware attacks never reach users’ computers, eliminating the risks associated with persistent malware attacks.
Spikes is challenging Black Hat Conference attendees to hack their browser, with prizes up to $10,000. Workshop contestants will be able to submit URLs for a target PC to visit. If they successfully exploit the system with web malware, they will be rewarded incrementally with prizes for demonstrating unique ways to get through the Spikes Browser’s 11 layers of defense.
“We are eager to put Spikes to the test with the best security experts in the industry, and Black Hat is the perfect opportunity to showcase our new approach to browser security,” said Branden Spikes, CEO of Spikes and former CIO of PayPal and SpaceX. “The browser is a locus of malware attacks, but conventional approaches to browser security rely on software defenses and are therefore fundamentally flawed. We are the only solution that creates literal hardware separation between the browser and the user’s computer, which is the only way to create a more secure browser. We’re pleased to have the opportunity to present this unique approach to our industry peers."
The Spikes Browser is a remote application, running on an appliance in the cloud, that isolates web applications from executing within an enterprise network. The layers of security and hardware-separated design provides a level of protection far exceeding anything available with existing browser security technologies. Because of this separation, when malware attacks, employee computers remain untouched.
The remote display technology also offers improved performance while maintaining an elegant user experience for even the most demanding users. The Spikes Browser is designed from the ground up to be easy to use, deploy, and integrate, all while providing a browsing experience that is familiar, and compelling for end users.
The Black Hat workshops and challenge will take place July 31, 2013. Contestants can find more information by visiting http://blog.spikes.com/.
