Ernst & Young LLP’s Greater Los Angeles Offices Announce New Leadership Promotions

Sandra Burns was promoted to partner from senior manager. Burns is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Assurance practice where she provides audit services to large, multinational clients primarily in the investment sector. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Accounting from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Burns is a certified public accountant licensed to practice in California and a member of the American Institute of CPAs. She is active in recruiting at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and serves on the board of the National Association of Women Business Owners, Los Angeles.
Paul Chen was promoted to partner from senior manager. Chen is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Assurance practice, where he serves clients in the media & entertainment sector, with a focus on companies in the film, television and music businesses. He worked in the firm’s San Diego office before transferring to Los Angeles in 2002. Chen earned a bachelor’s degree with majors in Business Administration – Entrepreneurial Finance and Accounting from Point Loma Nazarene University. He is a certified public accountant licensed to practice in California and a member of the American Institute of CPAs.
Glen Day was promoted to principal from senior manager. Day is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Advisory practice where he serves as the Information Security Leader for Technology. He focuses on intellectual property protection strategies, helping clients address cyber-attacks and insider threats for IP exploitation. Day previously served as Los Angeles County’s first chief privacy officer and is a retired US Navy Commander with a specialty in information warfare. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Southern California and a master’s degree in Management of Information Systems from the Naval Postgraduate School at Monterey.
Deep Ghumman was promoted to principal from senior manager. Ghumman is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Advisory practice where he works with Fortune 500 companies, helping them build strategic roadmaps and undertake major transformation programs that drive greater efficiency and effectiveness. Ghumman worked in the UK member firm of EY before transferring to Los Angeles, and previously worked in Switzerland and India. He studied Biotechnology at the King’s College London, UK. Ghumman is a Six Sigma practitioner and a PRINCE2 certified project manager.
Dorian Redding was promoted to principal from senior manager. Redding is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Advisory practice where he serves multinational clients in the media & entertainment, high technology and telecommunications sectors. He focuses on helping companies with finance and back office performance improvement, and serves as a shared services and outsourcing subject matter professional. Redding is a certified management accountant and worked in the London office of the UK member firm of EY before transferring to Los Angeles in 2011. He received a bachelor’s degree in Applied Economics from the University of East London and an executive MBA in Finance from the École Nationale des Ponts in Paris.
Marc Roberts was promoted to partner from senior manager. Roberts is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Assurance practice where he serves a variety of clients, including real estate funds, developers, hotels, homebuilders and engineering and construction companies. He serves as the sector resident in the firm’s national engineering and construction practice. Roberts received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of LaVerne. He is a certified public accountant licensed to practice in California and a member of the American Institute of CPAs.
Timothy Teagle was promoted to principal from director. Teagle is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Business Development group where he serves as the West Region Accounts and Business Development Leader. In this role, he serves global accounts in the manufacturing, distribution and media & entertainment industries, and leads the business development, sales and marketing team for the West Coast. Teagle received a bachelor’s degree in Management and Human Resources from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
Edith Yavarian was promoted to partner from senior manager. Yavarian is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Tax practice where she provides tax services to clients in the retail and consumer products sector and has extensive experience serving large, multi-location SEC registrants, privately held companies and high-growth enterprises. She received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an Accounting concentration from Hofstra University and a master’s degree in Taxation from Fordham University. Yavarian is a certified public accountant currently licensed to practice in New York and a member of the American Institute of CPAs.
Patrick Hynes was promoted to executive director from senior manager. Hynes is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Advisory practice where he provides advisory services to clients with a focus on information security and computer forensics. He has led the investigation and response to targeted hacking, compromise and theft of intellectual property of multiple companies by organized global groups. Hynes received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Computer Information Systems and Accounting from the University of Michigan. He co-authored the recently released book, Responding to Targeted Cyberattacks.
Sherri Kelly was promoted to executive director from senior manager. Kelly is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Advisory practice where she serves clients in a variety of sectors, including media & entertainment, financial services and technology. She received a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Florida State University and a master’s degree in Accountancy specializing in Information Systems from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Kelly is a certified public accountant licensed to practice in California and a certified information systems auditor.
Debbie Lew was promoted to executive director from senior manager. Lew is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Advisory practice where she provides information technology governance and risk management services to clients. Lew received a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from York University in Toronto. She is a certified information system auditor, is certified in risk and information systems controls and teaches governance, risk and compliance to graduate students at California State University, Northridge. Lew is a longtime volunteer for the ISACA professional association, including serving as past president of the Los Angeles chapter and various steering committees at the international level.
Glenn Walsh was promoted to executive director from senior manager. Walsh is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Tax practice where he provides tax services to clients, specializing in multi-state income and franchise taxes with a focus on transactions advisory and state tax structuring. He received a bachelor's degree in Finance and Economics from the University of Oregon and a JD degree from the University of the Pacific's McGeorge School of Law. Walsh is a certified public accountant licensed to practice in California and a member of the California Bar Association.
