Ernst & Young LLP’s San Francisco Office Announces New Leadership Promotions
SAn Francisco, Calif. Brian Eggert was promoted to partner from senior manager. Eggert is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Transaction Advisory Services practice where he provides advisory services to both private equity and corporate clients on acquisitions and divestitures. He joined the firm in 1998, working in its Chicago office and the Zurich, Switzerland, office of the Swiss member firm of EY before transferring to San Francisco in 2006. Eggert earned a bachelor’s degree from Miami University. He is a certified public accountant licensed to practice in California and a member of the American Institute of CPAs.
Anne Freden was promoted to principal from senior manager. Freden is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Tax practice where she provides tax services to clients, with a focus on the global management of value added tax. She worked in the London, England, office of the UK member firm of EY before transferring to San Francisco in 2012. Freden earned a bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College and a master’s degree from the London School of Economics. She is a chartered tax advisor and a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation in the United Kingdom.
Javier Garcia was promoted to partner from senior manager. Garcia is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Assurance practice where he serves clients in the multi-family apartment, office, industrial and homebuilding sectors of the real estate sector, as well as the consumer products sector. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Garcia is a certified public accountant licensed to practice in California and a member of the American Institute of CPAs. He serves as the executive sponsor for the San Francisco College MAP program and sits on the board of the Accounting Career Awareness Program.
Matthew Hatch was promoted to partner from senior manager. Hatch is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Advisory practice – Financial Services Office where he focuses on banking and capital markets clients on the West Coast. He worked in the firm’s Palo Alto office serving technology and consumer products companies before transferring to San Francisco in 2000. Hatch earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Management Information Systems from California State University, Chico. He is a certified information systems auditor, a certified public accountant licensed to practice in California and a member of the American Institute of CPAs.
Jackie Pan was promoted to principal from senior manager. Pan is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Advisory practice where she provides advisory services to clients focusing on ERP implementation, global finance and supply chain transformation and organizational change enabled through technology. She specializes in complex SAP projects with deployments in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific markets. Pan earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Barak Ravid was promoted to principal from executive director. Ravid is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Transaction Advisory Services practice where he serves clients in the technology sector, advising on transactions and front-end growth strategy assignments. He previously provided commercial advisory services in New York and London before relocating to San Francisco, where he joined the firm in 2010. Ravid received a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Accounting from Bristol University.
Mazhar Wani was promoted to partner from senior manager. Wani is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Tax practice – Financial Services Office where he provides tax services to banking and capital markets clients on the West Coast. He worked in the firm’s Cleveland, McLean and Washington, DC offices as well as the Zurich, Switzerland, office of the Swiss member firm of EY before transferring to San Francisco in 2010. Wani received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron School of Business and an MBA from Cleveland State University. He is a certified public accountant licensed to practice in California and a member of the American Institute of CPAs.
Rick Berge was promoted to executive director from senior manager. Berge is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Tax practice where he provides tax services to a variety of clients with a focus on compensation and benefits. He received a bachelor's degree in Accounting from California State University, Long Beach, and a JD degree from Southwestern University College of Law. Berge is a certified public accountant licensed to practice in California, a member of the California State Bar and a member of the American Institute of CPAs.
Mark Doyle was promoted to executive director from senior manager. Doyle is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Tax practice where he provides tax and financial planning services to high net worth individuals, founders, executives and family offices, as well as clients with corporate and private aircraft operations and gift tax issues and compliance matters. He worked in the firm’s Walnut Creek office before transferring to San Francisco in 1997. Doyle received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a JD from Santa Clara University School of Law. He is a federally authorized IRS enrolled agent.
Maria Joseph was promoted to executive director from senior manager. Joseph is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Assurance practice – Financial Services Office where she serves clients in the asset management sector. Her experience includes assurance procedures relating to mutual funds, hedge funds, private equity funds and institutional asset management companies. Joseph is a certified public accountant currently licensed to practice in New York and a chartered accountant. She received a master’s degree in Accountancy from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, and an MBA from Columbia University.
Michael Winter was promoted to executive director from senior manager. Winter is a member of Ernst & Young LLP’s Advisory practice – Financial Services Office where he provides advisory services to clients in the financial services sector, including asset managers, consumer and commercial banks and capital markets firms, with a focus on regulatory compliance, operational risk management and business process improvements. Winter received a bachelor’s degree in Finance from California State University, Chico, and a JD degree from Golden Gate University. He is a member of the California State Bar, a certified anti-money laundering specialist and a certified Six Sigma Black Belt.
