WindhorseTour Announces The Newborn Panda Baby at Chengdu Panda Base Has Passed the Critical Period
(PRWEB) July 25, 2013 -- WindhorseTour, a top China travel agency with offices in Chengdu, is pleasant to announce that the newborn panda has passed the critical stage with a clean bill of health at Chengdu Panda Base yesterday.
Any travelers who take a Panda volunteer tour with WindhorseTour will have a chance to see this new member of the big family of Chengdu Panda Base.
Born on the rainy night of July, 10th, Mengmeng, the name of this newborn panda, is the first cub at the Chengdu Panda Base this year. She is also the second cub to be born from her twenty-year old mother, Eryazi.
Infant mortality is high among giant pandas, particularly in the first three days after birth. Newborns need 24-hour care to ensure stable body temperature, essential nutrition and protection from disease. Mengmeng’s first debut indicated that she would grow up to be a healthy giant panda under the dedicated care of the staff at Chengdu Panda Base.
As the first travel agency to offer panda volunteer tours in Chengdu, WindhorseTour have arranged and assisted thousands of clients to participate in the daily routines of taking care of pandas. Activities include cleaning the pandas' garden, preparing food, feeding pandas, collecting behavioral data and more.
Debra, a client from WindhorseTour said, “The panda volunteer work was a great way to learn more about the panda. I learned many things about personalities and demeanor of the pandas.”
As one of the most adorable and rarest animals in the world, giant pandas can now only be found in a few mountain ranges of the Sichuan province. Currently there are only 1,600 living in the wild against 300 in captivity.
There are currently 5 other expectant female giant pandas at the Chengdu Base and they’ll be ready to give birth next month.
