The National Council for Hypnotherapy Responds to Research Showing that Smokers with Plain Pack Cigarettes Are More Likely to Quit
(PRWEB UK) 31 July 2013 -- According to an article published on OnMedica, named 'Smokers Using Plain Packets More Likely to Think About Quitting', published on the 22nd July 2013, plain packaging for cigarettes seems to make tobacco less appealing and increase the urgency to quit. The findings, from a study in Australia, suggest that plain packaging accompanied by graphic health warnings prompt smokers to lose interest and think about giving up smoking. Smokers who were given cigarettes in plain packaging were 70 per cent more likely to say they found cigarettes less satisfying. A further 81 per cent were more likely to have thought about quitting at least once a day during using the plain packaging.
Another way to increase the likelihood of quitting smoking is to use a complementary therapy such as hypnotherapy. This can increase willpower and determination to quit alongside realigning the smokers thoughts about cigarettes. The National Council for Hypnotherapy connects the public with hypnotists in their local area who are qualified to deal with a range of issues including losing weight, stopping smoking and controlling anxiety.
A spokesperson from the organisation said:
“It is great to see research that supports the move towards plain packaging. In addition it is also wonderful to highlight the benefits of using hypnotherapy to help smokers increase the desire to quit and stop smoking alone or alongside other nicotine replacement therapies.”
The National Council for Hypnotherapy continues to follow smoking news.
