Director Tim Story Talks About Kevin Hart and How He Originally Got Into Film in an Interview on Black Hollywood Live
(PRWEB) July 24, 2013 -- (blackhollywoodlive.com) -- Director, Tim Story, made an appearance on Black Hollywood Live's Portraits show, Friday night. In his appearance, Story talks about his passion for Sci-fi, filming Barbershop, working on Fantastic Four, and why he thinks Kevin Hart is an amazing actor to work with.
Tim Story on filming as a kid:
Story says, “Around 11 or 12, I started shooting movies, before I knew it; it progressed into getting into the art form of it all, [in his first film] One of my neighbors put on a mask and chased everyone around the house.”
Tim Story on working with Kevin Hart:
“[Kevin Hart] is kind of my guy and I’m his guy and we’re close. I get what makes him funny. When you find synergy between an actor, you want to make as many films as possible,” says Story.
Tim Story on how film inspired his life:
"[There is] something about being able to create worlds and go somewhere else that was interesting to me. I was into sci-fi and magic. Watched [those shows] whenever they came on…in hindsight the addiction was crazy, When I look back, I knew what I wanted to do at 12 years old; it’s interesting when you get the chance to make it as a living,” says Story.
Tim Story on shooting style:
Story says, “Now it’s totally digital. I have shot my last three movies completely digital. I am one of those directors that doesn’t like to yell cut all the time. You lose your rhythm. [As a director] You can’t fake confidence. You can’t fake confidence from someone who knows it. “I’m still in the mode of what’s next. What I do like about film is that there is a completion to it. There is a moment to says it’s done and move onto the next.”
Tim Story on the success of 'Barbershop':
Story says, “It was the response to what it did, when I finally realized. I started to get these opportunities (although I felt they were warranted --because I work my ass off), I did notice that they were different than even some of my peers; that film shoot was like we are all trying to kick ass. We felt like we were creating something special and it was cool.”
