White Mountain Process' New Whisper Technology Creates World's Only Squeal-less Mechanical Seal
Boston, Ma (PRWEB) July 29, 2013 -- The WMS model is a cGMP Dry Running Single Stationary Multi-Spring Cartridge Mechanical seal with a Debris Well built into the design... and is CIP/SIP Ready. The materials of construction are 316Lss (L grade polished 316 stainless steel, a Proprietary Composite vs Sintered Silicon Carbide seal face (Both materials are FDA Grade and certified) and USP VI EPDM elastomers. A USP VI Silicon Carbide is available as an option, as well as USP VI Viton, Silicone, Kalrez, and Chemraz elastomers. Passivation and electropolish is available on metal components, and we also offer exotic alloys such as Hast C276, Hast B2, AL6XN, and Titanium for metal seal components.
The seal is considered "Squealless" and eliminates the need for hearing protection during operation - a common problem with single dry run mechanical seals installed on mixers and agitators.
Pressure, temperature, and speed vary due to process but here are some guidelines to go by when considering the WMS Whisper Mechanical Seal.
Speeds of 650 rpm for up to 2.000" Mixer Shaft OD
For agitator shafts above 2.000" diameter we suggest up to 350rpm.
Max. Temperature in the 250 F range, seal is fully steam sterilizable for typical SIP cycles.
Pressures of 50psig and seal is Full Vacuum rated.
For higher temperatures and higher pressures contact a rotating equipment specialist at White Mountain Process to adequately size the proper seal for your particular mixing tank or process agitator.
Many seal face materials are available, including FDA carbon, USP VI SiC, and others. We often get asked to upgrade NON sanitary seals with proper seal faces and elastomers that carry FDA and USP VI certifications and all the appropriate cGMP documentation and trace ability.
Double mechanical seals are available for clean steam condensate or WFI flush, and Dry running Dual Options available (DWMS)
