Kelby Media Group Lights Up Android Devices With Aquafadas Digital Publishing System v3
New York, NY (PRWEB) July 25, 2013 -- Aquafadas, innovative developer of digital publishing solutions, recently announced that power-user Kelby Media Group is using key features of the brand new 3.0 version release of the Aquafadas Digital Publishing System to bring its collection of digital publications to the Android operating system, beginning with the highly popular Light It magazine. Light It, Kelby’s “how-to magazine for studio lighting and off-camera flash,” was launched on the iPad in August of 2011 and marked the company’s move into digital publishing. “What the partners here wanted was a magazine experience with a bit more, and Aquafadas was the only one that could produce that,” says Dave Korman, senior premedia specialist at Kelby. “The plugin for InDesign is very easy to use. It’s geared towards designers and doesn’t require any coding, so there wasn’t much of a learning curve.”
Since its launch nearly two years ago, Light It has been well received by the photography community, but the demand for an Android version has been high. With the release of Aquafadas Digital Publishing System version 3.0, Kelby was able to leverage the new Android publishing feature to deliver Light It to all its fans. Readers will be able to find Light It for Android on Google Play when it officially launches later this year.
“The great thing we found is, whether it’s Android, iPad or iPhone, once we create that file, it’s the same, regardless of the end results, so we don’t have to go back and do any additional work,” comments Felix Nelson, creative director at Kelby Media Group. “Once you figure out how to do it the first time, implementing onto other devices is easy. Aquafadas does all the heavy lifting. For us, it’s a matter of going into App Factory and selecting the Android version, then buying app licenses and adding in-app purchases.”
After experiencing a great deal of success with publishing Light It to iOS, Kelby Media Group expanded its digital library to include its other industry magazines, Photoshop User and Lightroom. The team plans to eventually do the same with Android editions.
“Light It is our guinea pig. We get it out there first; see what the response is and how people take to it. If everything goes well, there’s no reason to not go in the same direction,” Nelson says. “Light It has set the pace for our digital publishing strategy and has been really helpful. It’s the vehicle we’ve used to get other publications out there digitally.”
