According to Igloo product manager, Lisa Silva, “The project was originally dubbed the ‘Montebelluna Project’ for the city in Italy from which most ski boot innovation emerges. These coolers were inspired by trends in the ski industry, driven by material and color contrasts that appeal to the fashion sense, and influenced by the rapid personalization in product categories, such as electronics, shoes and sporting goods.”
Each 28-quart Edge Elite wheeled cooler features removable, stylized graphics behind translucent Tritan panels. The removable panels allow consumers to personalize their cooler and change the look as often as they want. “This market is not just about a commodity red or blue ice chest anymore. In addition to unique materials, textures and pops of vivid colors, and the ability to personalize, this line of products is feature driven and equipped with functionality. The Edge Elite dual-function utility lid has two cup holders integrated into a convenient dry storage compartment for utensils, cell phone, or keys —or can be used in the open position as a serving tray for drinks and snacks.
The coolers also feature polished silver, locking, push-button telescoping handles that can be pushed or pulled; convenient “Gear Hangers” to hold purses, bags or other items; soft-ride chrome wheels for easy transport; a rubberized front bumper; comfort grip molded-in side handles and a stay-open, self-stopping lid.
The Edge line will be available at retail in summer of 2014 in two color combinations—red/silver and white/turquoise. The coolers will have an MSRP of $59.99.
