“Angelina Jolie Has Helped Raised Awareness for Breast Cancer Misdiagnosis” Asons Solicitors Comment.
Bolton, UK (PRWEB UK) 30 July 2013 -- Angelina Jolie’s decision to have a preventative double mastectomy has been closely followed by the global media (1). Considering the prevalence of Breast Cancer Misdiagnosis, it is clear that the publicity will be welcomed, raising much needed awareness.
Not the first celebrity to promote awareness, Angelina Jolie’s decision is sure to be of interest to previous breast cancer sufferers. According to the Bolton News, during an American chat show, Kylie Minogue advised women to trust their intuition on matters of health (2); making the following statement –
“This is an opportunity for me to say something that I have not said before, I was misdiagnosed initially. My message to all of you and everyone at home is, because someone is in a white coat and using big medical instruments doesn’t necessarily mean they are right.
"I have a great respect for the medical profession and the numerous, in fact, countless, people who helped me on my road back to health. I am in the very best of hands now, but it is a fact that my initial diagnosis was that I was, 'Alright, and had nothing to worry about’. A few weeks later this was clearly not the case. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment is the key for any woman diagnosed with breast cancer.”
According to NHS Choices, Breast Cancer is the most common form of the disease, with 48,000 women in Britain becoming sufferers each year (3). Women aged between 50 and 70 are automatically invited to a breast cancer screening every three years. However, taking into account Kylie Minogue’s warning, it is clear that concerns should be acted on, regardless of whether or not a screening is scheduled.
Speaking on the subject of Breast Cancer Misdiagnosis, Asons Executive Suzanne Yates –
“It is easy to believe that celebrities lead a charmed life, but with the recent publicity surrounding Angelina Jolie’s health worries, it is clear this is not always the case. Any woman can be unfortunate enough to find a lump, and at Asons Solicitors, we see women making cancer misdiagnosis claims from every walk of life.
Women need to be fully aware of the signs of breast cancer, avoiding a situation where they accept a misdiagnosis. An early diagnosis and a chance for prompt treatment are crucial, giving women the fighting chance they deserve.”
In the event that you consider yourself to have a cancer misdiagnosis claim, you must seek legal advice as quickly as possible. Taking action can prevent the same situation from reoccurring, helping others to avoid injury in future.
If you, or someone you know, have suffered as a result of breast cancer misdiagnosis then you may be able to make a claim for cancer misdiagnosis compensation.
