Brazoria County Works with Walker Reid Strategies and is Recognized for Energy Conservation
(PRWEB) July 27, 2013 -- Through the use of energy efficient technology, the City Hall and Detention Center in Brazoria County have significantly reduced energy consumption and carbon emissions. Specifically, the lighting technologies implemented have met and exceeded the requirements of the 2005 Energy Policy Act (EPAct) as “Energy Efficient Commercial Buildings.” Through the EPAct Gives Back™ program, the County has been rewarded for their initiatives and stewardship.
Implementation of energy conservation initiatives demonstrate Brazoria County’s strong commitment to energy efficiency and cost avoidance which benefits the local tax paying community. The lighting system alone will save tax payers more than $800,000 per year in utility costs. This reduction is equivalent to reducing the County’s carbon emissions by 1,459,944 lbs. (730 tons) a year, removing 138 passenger vehicles off of local roads, or preserving 543 acres of U.S forests.
The city buildings went through an intense engineering analysis and inspection process in order to meet all the requirements of the Energy Policy Act, administered by Walker Reid Strategies, Inc., and have received certificates for their achievements in Energy Conservation. Their commitment to Greener governmental buildings is admirable and an example to other institutions.
