On June 28, Kyle Williams, owner of and the Mastermind in Washington State and Idaho, began a sweepstakes with his merchant Inland Cellular. Inland Cellular provides digital and analog cellular service in Eastern Washington and North Central Idaho. They utilized the broadcast feature to send a text message to their database of over 13,000 subscribers.

The text message received by subscribers read, “Want to win a $500 Samsung Galaxy Tablet from Inland Cellular & QPINS.COM? Simply reply to this text with the word WIN to enter! Winner will be drawn on 6/30/13!”

After a subscriber entered the sweepstakes, they were prompted with an automated response that asked for the subscriber’s email address to complete their entry into the contest. Inland Cellular received 2,945 entries for the tablet sweepstakes, which was a 22.3% participation rate. Of the 2,945 entries, they simultaneously collected over 1,900 email addresses to utilize in their database marketing efforts.

Inland Cellular received a 113% traffic increase in Loyalty Kiosk usage on the weekend the sweepstakes ran, and also had over $45,000 in accessory sales and over 300 new line activations and upgrades.

Todd Treinen, owner of in Kansas and Western Missouri, set new Masterminds growth records across their national network of over 1,000,000 subscribers with the success of his merchant Zarda Bar-B-Q & Catering Company in Blue Springs, Mo.

Zarda is a dine-in, carry out and drive through Bar-B-Q and catering restaurant in two locations: Blue Springs, Mo. and Lenexa, Kan. On June 1, Zarda began their relationship with, and utilized their mobile and loyalty marketing solutions to create a customer database of over 5,900 unique loyal customers in less than two months.

Zarda has sent over 21,000 messages to a database of loyal customers on their mobile device. These messages included special deals, offers and rewards all tailored to their individual buying habits.

With each 5th check-in, customers earn a free ham or turkey sandwich of their choice. Out of 173 rewards earned, 79 customers came in to redeem the offer, which makes a 45.7% redemption rate – which is a big leap from the target redemption rate of 10% through traditional text offers, and far larger than the redemption rate of traditional marketing, which is usually around a 1.5% redemption rate.
