Short Film Wins Calypso Four Awards
Portsmouth, NH (PRWEB) July 26, 2013 -- Calypso Communications, an integrated, full-service public relations, marketing, and creative design firm, today announced its entry into the 2013 New Hampshire 48 Hour Film Project earned four honors at an awards ceremony held Wednesday evening.
“Radical Acts!”, a team of Calypso employees and creative partners, produced the short film “Buffer Quest,” which won the categories of “Best Directing,” “Best Costumes,” and “Best Graphics,” and received “Runner Up” recognition in the “Best Film” category. “Buffer Quest” is viewable online at http://vimeo.com/68218082.
“We are incredibly excited to receive these honors, especially considering the talent level among this year’s group of New Hampshire filmmakers,” said Mike Teixeira, Calypso’s vice president and creative director, who directed “Buffer Quest.” “I’m proud of our team’s ability to pull together over one weekend, work hard, and keep our sense of humor at the same time.”
The 48 Hour Film Project requires all shooting, writing, filming, and editing be completed in just 48 hours. Every film submitted to this year’s project was required to use a specific prop (a cantaloupe), character, and line of dialogue. All movies were shown in mid June at Cinemagic in Hooksett. The theater also hosted a “Best of” screening and awards ceremony on July 24.
“The project showed us that we can take the creativity and technical skill that we use in client work every day at Calypso and translate it into a purely fun, imaginative project,” said Calypso Video Production Manager Dan Snyder, who produced and acted in “Buffer Quest.” “The film really highlighted the knowledge of our team, from the directing, to the lighting, to the animation and graphics.”
The 48 Hour Film Project’s mission is to advance filmmaking and promote filmmakers. This year, 26 teams competed in the fifth annual New Hampshire 48 Hour Film Project. In the remaining months of the year, the 48 Hour Film Project will visit 120 cities where more than 60,000 people will produce short films. For more information, visit http://www.48hourfilm.com.
