(PRWEB UK) 31 July 2013 -- According to HVP on July 25 in the article ‘Research Reveals Heating Controls Can Reduce Consumption By Up To 40%’, recent research has indicated the importance of adequate heating controls.
The research was undertaken for the BEAMA controls group TACMA, and suggested that having effective temperature controls fitted on home heating systems such as radiators has an important effect on reducing energy use.
The research, which was conducted by the University of Salford, undertook tests in a ‘typical’ house in the UK, built in an environmental chamber in their Energy House facility. They found that the consumption of energy could be reduced by up to 40% by having room thermostats and Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRVs) fitted in the home. They also found that this can increase comfort for those in the home because heat in each room can be individually controlled.
The director of TACMA, Colin Timmins, told HVP that:
“It’s clear from this latest evidence that all homes with a conventional hydronic heating system should have a room thermostat and a full set of TRVs. Benefits for householders will be systems that work as intended, delivering both comfort and efficiency.”
