HMHP Diversity Council One of the Nation’s Top 25 Employee Resource Groups
Youngstown, Ohio (PRWEB) July 28, 2013 -- Humility of Mary Health Partners’ Multicultural Competence and Inclusion Council is one of only 25 groups that will be recognized this fall by The Association of Diversity Councils, a practice group of PRISM International, Inc. The association recently released its annual list of the Top 25 U.S. Employee Resource Groups and Diversity Councils for 2013.
"This is the fifth year the Association will award its prestigious Diversity Council Honors Award™," said Philip Berry, executive director of the Association of Diversity Councils. "This award honors the outstanding contributions and achievements of employee resource groups (ERGs) and diversity councils that lead diversity and inclusion processes in their organizations and demonstrate results in their workforce, workplace and marketplace."
Award recipients will be recognized and honored at a dinner award ceremony this October during the second annual 2013 Diversity Council Conference in Alexandria, Va.
Linda Stokes, president and CEO of PRISM International, Inc. and parent of the Association stated, "ERGs and Diversity Councils are organizational business assets that contribute to workforce and marketplace growth. They also help the organization live out its values of respect and inclusion."
“Winning this award brings our organization one step closer to accomplishing our goal of providing an environment of inclusion that engages every individual – patient, family, significant other, staff, physician and volunteer – involved in the process and delivery of equity care,” says Katrina Walker, director of multicultural competence and inclusion for HMHP.
The application process opened in February and closed in June. Application is free and open to ERGs and diversity councils in operation for two or more years. Their evaluation is based on their contributions and achievements in four categories: demonstrated council results; demonstrated management commitment; measurement and accountability; and, communication and education.
Award recipients include a diverse combination of national corporations, governmental agencies and the military, representing all sectors, geographies and organizational sizes. Mr. Berry said, "This year's Top 25 recipient list includes 13 new and 12 returning ERGs and Diversity Councils. Nine of the 12 returning recipients improved in the rankings."
Ms. Stokes said, "It's critical for ERGs and diversity councils to review their initiatives and strategies to determine how they can be more effective and impactful in delivering results. They need opportunities to increase their skills and knowledge…that's the purpose behind the two-day 2013 Diversity Council Conference: Increasing Effectiveness - Driving Results! set for Oct. 2 in Washington, D.C."
Mr. Berry added, "This conference is for all ERG and Diversity Council leaders and their members. There's a need to think differently, innovate and drive results which make a substantive difference in the organization. This conference provides expanded and extended opportunities to learn and share best practices, network, celebrate and grow."
