The Inaugural Husted Kicking National Camp Series (NCS) Championship Camp in San Diego, CA, Featuring Sav Rocca, Mat McBriar, Darren Bennett and Mitch Palmer a Big Success
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) July 28, 2013 -- The inaugural Husted Kicking National Camp Series (NCS) Championship Camp held in San Diego, CA, which featured current NFL punters, Sav Rocca and Mat McBriar, and retired NFL players Darren Bennett and Mitch Palmer, was a big success according to kicking coach, and retired NFL kicker Michael Husted.
“The inaugural San Diego NCS Championship Camp was a big success,” says Husted. “Between the level of talent and the coaching staff and pro demo, everyone had a great experience. We are convinced that we all walked away better students, coaches and overall athletes.”

Husted says the SD NCS Championship Camp was a full day camp that started out with an official evaluation charting using the NCS Kicking Index (KIX) Player Rating System.
The Kicking IndeX (KIX) Player Rating System is a player rating system developed by Husted. The KIX System sorts through over six years of historical event data to determine a kicker’s rankings by cross-referencing player data to determine how the athletes stack up against others, both presently and historically.
Husted says that by utilizing its Kicking IndeX (KIX) Player Rating System, NCS provides an objective evaluation platform for student-athletes who want to showcase their capabilities to colleges and universities for recruiting purposes.
“The goal of the KIX System is to leverage analytics to showcase our athletes,” says Husted, “And to provide objective high school kicking specialists’ statistics, to college and university coaches.”
Husted says that following the evaluation charting, NFL punters Sav Rocca and Mat McBriar provided a pro demo for all of the campers. He says that along with Mat and Sav was Daniel Zychlinski, a current pro free agent who punted for Stanford University last season. Snapping to the punters was Braedyn Eagle, current pro free agent from Portland State.
After the pro demo, there was professional instruction in all areas of the kicking game, field goals, kickoffs, punts and long snapping. The NFL coaches coaching the campers were Mitch Palmer and Darren Bennett.
Husted says the overall camp standout was Zach Olson. Olson is a 2014 senior from Mission Viejo High School, who, according to Husted, once again demonstrated that he has what it takes to kick at a high level in college.
Husted says the left-footed kicker took 1st Place in the Upperclassmen FG Competition by drilling a 50 yard field goal out of a snap and hold. Olson also took 1st place in the Upperclassmen Kickoff Competition. He had kickoffs with 3.86 hang time that traveled 69 yards and also kicked on that traveled 68 yards with a hang time of 3.85 seconds.
“This is the second NCS event where Zach has demonstrated his ability to win in a competition environment,” says Husted. “We expect Zach to have an excellent season this fall and I think that any FBS team would be fortunate to have him on their roster.”

Husted says the NCS Championships Camps are a new addition to NCS camp roster which includes the NCS Divisional Camps and the NCS Super Camp. He says the Championship Camps are geared not only for instruction, but to bring the “NFL experience” to campers.
“One thing I like about our Championship Camps is that we have NFL players who now coach as the main instructors,” says Husted. “Not only are we providing proper technique in the sessions, but we are also sharing with these athletes, our experiences as NFL athletes; the good, the bad and the ugly."
“However this camp, there was nothing but good,” says Husted. “We were impressed by some of the athletes participating in this camp. As always, in San Diego, the conditions were great for kicking, punting and long snapping. Many of these athletes came ready to showcase their talents.”
