Team Lloyd's Irvin's First Women's Amateur MMA Champion Crowned
Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) July 29, 2013 -- Team Lloyd Irvin’s female fighter shines in Charlotte N.C. at the NC Music Factory at Silver Hammer Studios, in Fight Lab 32 Saturday July 28th. Darvishian coming off a disappointing loss at the IBJJF World Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Tournament, steps off the mat and into the cage to redeem herself, by winning the 115 Fight Lab woman’s amateur female MMA championship.
Roya Darvishian fought a five round war to secure her title Saturday night. The fight went everywhere according to Fight Lab promotions. It seemed Darvishian, of Team Lloyd Irvin, was a step ahead of every move made by her undefeated opponent. Darvishian stated, "early in the first round she hit me with an overhand right and I realized I needed to use my movement and boxing to set up my takedowns.” Roya did just that on her way to controlling the remainder of the fight with punches, takedowns, and solid side control from the top position.
Roya is currently working for UPS in shipping on 3rd shift and at the Glenarden Recreation Center. Roya said, "this win is very special to me because I put a lot of work into training after getting off work, while trying to maintain my household; winning against an undefeated fighter and winning Team Lloyd Irvin’s first female MMA championship made worth it.” Roya will be back in action fighting for another female title in EFC August 24th in Atlantic City.
