City Bike Designer Linus Bike Commends Young Man for Biking Cross Country in Support of the Bike & Build Charity
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) July 30, 2013 -- On July 30, city bike designer, Linus Bike, commends 19 year-old Joe Kuykendall for embarking on a cross country bicycling trip in support of the Bike & Build charity.
According to a July 28, 2013 article published on EagleTribune.com, entitled, “Andover’s Kuykendall cycling across the country for charity,” 19 year-old Joe Kuykendall has been cycling cross country for the past month and a half with a group of 29 people in support of the Bike & Build charity, which benefits the affordable housing cause in the United States.
The trip commenced on May 31st, 2013 in Virginia Beach, Virginia and is expected to finish on August 10th, 3,794 miles away in Canon Beach, Oregon. The 29-person group has been taking part in the “Central America” route, one of 10 organized by Bike & Build.
Kuykendall elaborates on the experience thus far. “The first day you start out and ride 55 miles and the endorphins are kicking in and it is so exciting because it is something new,” he says. “Then you realize you still have about 3,700 miles to go. It was very overwhelming.”
He adds, “But then I think about why I am doing it. It’s intimidating, fascinating and incredible all at the same time. It’s hard but it is worth it. I tell myself, ‘Never underestimate the major impact a minor action can have.’”
On average, Kuykendall and his group complete about nine hours of cycling a day, starting between 4-6 a.m. They have made 10 stops in various locations on “Build Days” when they help build low-income housing.
Jason Latty, a representative from Linus Bike, a city bike designer, commends Kuykendall and his entire crew for their efforts. “Cycling to raise awareness and money for all different causes is a trend we’ve seen grow recently. It has the capability to generate mass attention and awareness for whichever cause the cyclists are riding for.
We wish Kuykendall and his crew continued success of the remainder of the journey and thank Bike & Build for their amazing efforts to bring awareness to the nation’s need for low-cost, affordable housing.”
