Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 30, 2013 -- FleaPop (fleapop.com), a new online marketplace for home décor and furniture, announces rapid growth since their official launch in June. The company hit the $1 million mark this month with 200 online stores selling over 1600 products for a total value of over $1 million. FleaPop is part of Silicon Beach’s flourishing ecosystem of tech start-ups. The company is a second-generation start-up backed by Roaming Hunger (roaminghunger.com), a food truck aggregator that allows consumers to track their favorite food trucks in cities across the country. Serial entrepreneur, USC graduate, and California native Ross Resnick is the founder of both companies. The success of FleaPop and Roaming Hunger, and the ability of the founder to use one start-up’s success to back another, points towards the maturation of Silicon Beach as a viable environment for up-and-coming tech companies.
“I used to live in the Bay Area,” explains Resnick. “But ultimately we chose to build Roaming Hunger and launch FleaPop here in Santa Monica for a myriad of reasons-- not the least of which is the city’s climate for creativity and the influx of tech talent. Not to mention we’re just a few blocks away from sand.”
Resnick co-founded FleaPop with Jaireh Tecarro, a fellow technology entrepreneur who he met on a flight from New York to Los Angeles. Since their chance encounter, the pair has been collaborating on several projects. Tecarro cut her teeth in design by way of Silicon Valley startups, major Fortune 500 companies like Nokia and Nook, and the Stanford D.school.
With a lean start-up funded budget of $50,000, FleaPop has increased its user base by over 500% since its launch in June. The site enables small-scale entrepreneurs and individuals to sell their goods to consumers without leaving the comfort of their own homes or incurring the expense of running a more traditional brick-and-mortar store, activating over $1 million in assets ranging from vintage furniture to art, accessories, and collectibles. Prices range from $25 to $10,000. FleaPop is also partnered with industry tastemakers, such as HGTV’s Jennifer Bertrand, to curate the site’s offerings. New partnerships with other high-profile design personalities are expected to be announced soon.
“We’ve learned from the success of Roaming Hunger that user experience is paramount,” states Resnick. “The whole point of technology is to make people’s lives easier, and that’s precisely what we’re doing with FleaPop. We offer the thrill of the hunt with none of the inconveniences, revolutionizing the way people experience the flea market. We hope FleaPop will become the de-facto platform from which to sell and shop the home.”
FleaPop will launch a new mobile app in Fall 2013.
