Phoenix, Arizona (PRWEB) July 30, 2013 -- American Textile Recycling Service (ATRS) launches its "Shop and Recycle" Campaign in the Greater Phoenix area to coincide with back-to-school shopping weekends. Partnering with the Spectrum at Val Vista at 2570 S. Val Vista Dr, ATRS will host fun, friendly drop and drive recycling events during the first two weekends of August 2nd & 3rd and 10th-11th.
Recognized as the second most revenue-generating sales event of the year behind December holiday shopping, Back-to-School sales account for a large percentage of annual retail numbers. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, $21 billion was spent on clothing and accessories in August 2012 and of those sales, $8.6 billion was attributed to back-to-school shopping.
The Shop and Recycle initiative helps to educate families, moms and those all important "millennial" back-to-school shoppers about the benefits of recycling while providing a convenient point-of-purchase solution for recycling and donating last season’s outgrown and unwanted clothes, shoes, toys and other household textiles. To date, ATRS has diverted over 155 million pounds from local landfills in its regions and has donated over $4M to worthy charities in the process. Proceeds from this event will support programs and services of our charitable partner, Weldon House.
Look for the friendly recycling teams from ATRS in the parking area of the shopping center at the Val Vista Dr. entrance. They will be on hand to give more information about clothing recycling and how residents can help to support the Weldon House’s great cause.
