New Survey by Creators of Relationship App Couple Highlights Gender Divide in Perceptions of Romance in Relationships
San Francisco, California (PRWEB) July 31, 2013 -- In honor of August’s Romance Awareness Month, the creators of Couple, the most widely used relationship app in the U.S., conducted a new survey of over 2000 men and women who are currently in relationships. Focusing on several indicators around the role of romance in survey respondents’ relationships, findings indicate that while both men and women consider romance a top priority, the sexes experience romance in different ways. Additionally, although a high percentage of both partners describe the romance in their relationship as above average, some men and women indicated a need to step up their game in keeping the spark alive.
Specific findings show:
Both men and women put a high priority on romance...
-98% of both men and women said that romance is an important part of their relationship
But they crave different types of affection: Guys get physical, women want quality time
-20% more men than women ranked physical touch as their favorite romantic gesture
-Female respondents preferred quality time 22% more than male respondents
-Surprise finding: Gift giving was not perceived as a high ranking romantic gesture by either gender. However, 3 times as many female respondents as males did prefer receiving special gifts
Partners disagree on who’s the most romantic
-51% of women and 60% of men thought they were the more romantic partner of the couple
-Men were 18% more likely to think they were the driver of romance
-This data shows that men and women communicate romance differently which is why both genders think they are the leading partner in the romance department
The majority of respondents make multiple romantic gestures on a weekly
basis...not a daily basis
-25% of women and 33% of men report making romantic gestures monthly
-By contrast, 30% of women and 28% of men feel they make romantic gestures daily
-With the entire month of August dedicated to romance, every couple can work on increasing romantic gestures to a daily pace
Most respondents describe the romance in their relationships as above
average... but a percentage of both men and women do see an opportunity to improve.
-31% of women and 26% of men indicated the romance in their relationship had room to grow
Romance Awareness Month marks the perfect opportunity for couples to express their love more often. An app built just for two, Couple brings together multiple forms of expression into one broader communication channel that gives couples a private, fun and convenient way to stay connected. Using the app, couples can share photos, videos, audio notes, sketches and locations. The app is a great way for couples to interact with each other in real-time more often throughout the day using fun features like the live-sketch mode and the Thumbkiss - a way to digitally ‘touch’ through your phones.
The Couple poll was conducted online in July 2013 and fielded over 2000 responses from men and women who are in relationships.
