THINK Together Board Member Receives Award for Outstanding Volunteer Fundraising
Santa Ana, CA (PRWEB) July 31, 2013 -- THINK Together Board of Directors member, Mary Lynn Coffee, has been given the Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser award for National Philanthropy Day. This award honors an individual or family that demonstrates outstanding skills in coordinating and motivating groups of donors and volunteers for fundraising projects for the benefit of charitable institutions.
Mary Lynn was introduced to THINK Together in 2003 and shortly after, she joined the Board of Directors. Since her introduction to THINK Together, Mary Lynn has become a passionate advocate of THINK Together’s mission of providing high-quality academically oriented extended learning time programs regardless of race, creed, or socioeconomic status and its goal of closing the academic achievement gap.
Through the leadership of Mary Lynn and other board members, THINK Together has grown from an organization serving 2,000 children in Orange County in 2003 to now serve serving over 140,000 children statewide. Mary Lynn has connected THINK Together with community partners throughout Orange County. In her service as Community Ministries Committee Representative at Trinity United Presbyterian Church, she has directed a wealth of volunteers and significant resources towards THINK Together’s efforts in Orange County.
As a member of the Assistance League of Tustin, she has also connected THINK Together with volunteers young and old. Volunteers from both of these organizations take part in regular “Book Doctor” sessions where donated gently-used books are repaired and then sent out to thousands of needy families throughout Orange County. Her connections with the Pacific Symphony and the Orange County Great Park helped facilitate the participation of over 150 Santa Ana students in the Santa Ana Summer Strings event last summer.
In addition to these various efforts, Mary Lynn throws fundraisers on a regular basis at her home. From the Christmas Tea to collect books for the Book Doctor to the Family Fiesta to collect donations for THINK Together, Mary Lynn is continually bringing in resources to support our community. Most recently, several individuals donated to THINK Together in honor of Mary Lynn’s birthday.
