Family Court Judge and Divorce Attorney to Address Divorce-Industry Professionals Professionals about Courtroom Mistakes
DURHAM, NC (PRWEB) July 31, 2013 -- On October 1, the Honorable Judge Kathleen McCarthy and divorce attorney Robert P. Dickerson (Esq.) will offer their best advice as well as cautionary tales to leading divorce-industry professionals.
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts™ (IDFA™) is hosting a conference at Paris Las Vegas from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2. Designed to educate financial and legal professionals about topics ranging from identifying red flags and hidden gems in personal and corporate tax returns to income determination for self-employed or business owners to the anatomy of a business appraisal, the conference is open to divorce-industry professionals from the US and Canada.
Judge McCarthy has recognized the value Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® (CDFA™) professionals bring to the divorce process for more than a decade now. With an emphasis on recent case law, she will provide guidelines about what judges want and need to see in terms of financial documentation during the divorce process, and how that information should be presented. Robert P. Dickerson (Esq.) will offer an attorney’s perspective about a CDFA professional’s value in settlement negotiations as well as in the courtroom. Finally, both presenters will discuss errors business appraisers and other financial professionals are making in court, and offer suggestions on how to address those errors.
Other sessions include the full-day “Divorce & Tax Bootcamp”; “Working with Forensic Accountants and Business Appraisers”; “eMarketing your Practice”; and a “Leading Practitioners Panel”.
CDFA professionals are found throughout the US and Canada, from California to New York to Toronto. To retain their designation, all CDFA professionals must attend Continuing Education conferences and seminars to update their knowledge and upgrade their skills on a bi-annual basis; this conference is one of the avenues available to them.
IDFA’s 20th Anniversary conference is open to financial professionals (e.g., CDFA, CFP, CPA, CA, CGA) as well as matrimonial lawyers and paralegals from the USA and Canada.
