EKU Online Provides Opportunities for Students to Get a Degree Online
Richmond, Kentucky (PRWEB) July 31, 2013 -- Eastern Kentucky University was founded on the belief that quality education should be available to everyone. EKU has a distinguished history of service to eastern Kentucky that has included on-campus program options, as well as distance education for those outside the Richmond, KY area.
Outreach that began decades ago with satellite campuses has evolved to include numerous 100% online programs.
Growth has been dramatic. Five years ago, EKU offered three online degree programs and delivered approximately 35 courses to 165 students. Today, the institution provides more than 20 online degree options, delivers approximately 160 courses, and has more than 1,200 active online students. In recent months, online degree options have expanded to include a bachelor’s degree in Fire, Arson and Explosion Investigation and a doctorate in Occupational Therapy. Applications are now being accepted for an online master’s program in Public Administration, which begins in January 2014.
As the programs have grown, so has the school’s reputation. In 2010, EKU was named one of the top 10 online colleges in the nation by “Best Colleges.” Two years later, the bachelor of science in Corrections & Juvenile Justice Studies program was named one of the ten best online bachelor of criminal justice degree programs by TheBestSchools.org. In 2013, U.S. News & World Report released its inaugural rankings for “Best Online Programs for Veterans,” and the EKU Online master’s in education was named best in the nation.
Those who desire to get a degree online can expect to take the same courses as on-campus students and earn the same respected, fully accredited degree. Moreover, the EKU Online team is committed to supporting students and helping them succeed.
Graduates like Barbara Slater are impressed with what EKU has to offer. “I was respected as an adult learner, supported every step of the way,” said Slater. “Having completed graduate and post graduate work at other universities, I can honestly say the EKU experience was far superior. I recommend it without reservation!”
Eastern Kentucky University has given students the opportunity to earn fully accredited online degrees since 2006. EKU Online students have many benefits designed to help them succeed, including a personal advisor who creates a graduation plan that allows them to meet both their individual academic goals and their professional obligations. Moreover, they have the ability to study anytime, from anywhere and to progress at an accelerated pace. Most online courses are completed in just 8 weeks as opposed to 16 weeks for traditional on-campus courses.
