Mind-body health expert wins multiple awards for "The Other Medicine That Really Works," a comprehensive guide to a healing way of life. The book provides the key to addressing health issues in a way that takes the reader beyond symptom elimination into growth, transformation, and joy.

"The Other Medicine That Really Works: How Energy Medicine Can Help You Heal in Body, Mind, and Spirit" by Heidi DuPree, RN, CTN, was recently selected as a winner in the 2013 International Book Awards in the Health: Alternative Medicine category; a finalist in the 2013 National Indie Excellence Book Awards in the Body, Mind, Spirit Category; and received honorable mention in non-fiction in the 2013 DIY Book Festival. These awards honor excellence in both traditional and independent publishing, and are helping to establish the self-publishing industry as a legitimate and strong facet of the publishing industry.

"The key to health is embracing every aspect of ourselves with unconditional love, compassion, and acceptance," states DuPree, a holistic nurse, Certified Traditional Naturopath, and energy healing therapist with a practice in Reiki, EFT, and Craniosacral therapy. The book is a comprehensive guide to a healing way of life, weaving together mind-body health information with scientific studies and true-life stories of healing. Additionally, the book addresses the pervasive lack of knowledge in our culture regarding the core causes of chronic physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health issues and their energy-based treatment.

"It’s really about recognizing our health issues as messages from deep within us," explains DuPree, who has over thirty years of experience in healthcare -- half in clinical nursing and half in energy medicine. "When the focus of healthcare is only on biochemical medications, it can actually prevent us from getting to the root of what ails us."
