Long Island Screen Printing Company, East End Screen Printing Reacts to Nike’s Carolina Football T-Shirt Mishap
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) August 02, 2013 -- On August 2nd, Bruce Graham, owner of Long Island screen printing company, East End Screen Printing, responds to an article by University Herald that discusses the latest happening regarded the recent misprinting of Carolina Panthers T-shirts.
According to the article published on University Herald titled “Nike Screws Up New Carolina Panthers T-Shirt,” popular sportswear company Nike recalled t-shirts that misrepresented the Carolina Panthers. The article says the shirt featured a Carolina Panther’s signature logo printed next to a picture of the state of South Carolina with an NC printed over the state. After being removed from shelves, the company received a lot of backlash for the mistake.
Bruce Graham, owner of Long Island screen printing company, East End Screen Printing, says that the t-shirt has grown to represent more than just a piece of clothing. “The mistake goes to show how important a t-shirt can be for a brand or organization,” he says. “Over the years, a brand’s logo can become associated with an entire state and one simple mistake can cause so much backlash. It will be interesting to see what Nike does, either changing the shirt or scrapping it all together. Fans want to express themselves when wearing a team shirt, and if there is anything wrong, especially like putting the wrong state on the shirt, they will no doubt be upset.”
The Carolina Panthers have played all of their home games in Charlotte, NC except “for their inaugural 1995 season, which was played in Clemson, SC.” So to print an NC over the state of South Carolina was looked at as a grievous mistake, the article says.
