Australis Aquaculture, The Better Fish, Hosts Video Contest to Inspire People to Show Their “Better” Selves
Turners Falls, MA (PRWEB) August 01, 2013 -- Branded the ‘Better Fish’ for its buttery flavor, incredibly high Omega-3 content and award winning sustainable farming methods, Australis Aquaculture’s barramundi has been called by Time Magazine as “the last, best chance for fish to have a future” and fans everywhere are . Now, the world’s largest farmer of barramundi has launched a new “Be Better” Social Media Campaign challenging “Better Fish” fans everywhere to ask themselves the same question: ‘What makes you Be Better?’
Hosted on Youtube and Facebook, Australis has set out a $500 cash prize for the person who submits the best video sharing their own way of being “better.” The campaign is an effort to reach out to a new audience that may not be familiar with sustainability and fish farming.
To kick off the campaign, Australis is featuring local ‘heroes’ from their hometown area of Western Massachusetts where the company is based. The three ‘Be Better’ stories include musician Jeremy Dubbs, whose genetic disorder of brittle bone disease hasn’t curtailed his passion for performing and recording music; Eliza Shirazi, a fierce kickboxer and recent UMass grad who took her message of a healthy lifestyle and body image to hundreds of student followers weekly; and Gregery Miller, an artist and illustrator whose high-detail pen & ink illustrations have taken his work from the Cartoon Network and Disney to lifestyle brands like Nike and Urban Outfitters.
“Most artists, entrepreneurs, and self-proclaimed go getters in the world have little tricks we do for ‘being better,’ or at least trying to be better,” said Josh Goldman, Australis CEO and entrepreneur. “The idea for ‘Be Better’ is to spread a little fun and inspiration around. It’s the little things that make us smile, say wow or take pause,” Goldman added, “which in many ways, exemplifies what we try to do everyday with the Better Fish – offer a delicious, healthy fish and a solution for sustainability.” Goldman is an internationally recognized leader in the sustainable seafood movement who got his start 25 years ago when developing innovative approaches to aquaculture, even starting in his dorm at Hampshire College. As a leader in social change, Goldman understands the positive impact a person can make when truly inspired by a person striving to “be better.”
Those who would like to participate in Australis’ ‘Be Better’ Campaign (whether acrobatic, artistic, culinary, athletic, musical or just zany, it could be as crazy as a handstand, yoga pose, or yo-yo trick as long as it makes you ‘Be Better’), can record and submit a video entry through the attached link. The first 10 entries will automatically win a Be Better t-shirt, and every submission will be automatically entered to win the $500 grand prize, five 2lb bags of barramundi, and many other exciting prizes! The video that receives the most votes from the social media community will win the $500 grand prize. The contest begins on July 29th 2013 and ends on August 12th 2013 12:00AM ET.
