FHLBank Topeka Awards Economic Development Grants
Topeka, KS (PRWEB) August 06, 2013 -- FHLBank Topeka’s four-state district received an extra $1 million in grants. The $25,000 grants were awarded to 40 projects in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma, through FHLBank Topeka’s Joint Opportunities for Building Success (JOBS) Program.
FHLBank’s JOBS program is an economic development initiative that assists member financial institutions to promote employment growth in their communities. Members partner with community businesses or nonprofits to sponsor projects such as a Main Street Entertainment and Farmers Market Pavilion in Chanute, Kan., a Habitat for Humanity skills development program in Omaha, Neb., and a small business development center in Durango, Colo.
FHLBank’s housing and community development programs are an important part of sustaining its mission, to make a difference by helping our members build their communities. The JOBS program is one way to support our member banks as they support their communities. JOBS projects help fund small business projects and loans, revitalization programs, entrepreneurship training, and increased employment opportunities.
