The International Distance Skateboard Association Recognizes the Largest Canadian Distance Push Race
Edmonton, Alberta, CA (PRWEB) August 14, 2013 -- The International Distance Skateboard Association (IDSA) is proud to announce that it will recognize The Ribbon of Green Ultimate Endurance (ROGUE) 20km Longboard Race in 2013. Over 200 skateboarders will compete a weekend series that will feature a high-speed downhill racing and a 20km endurance race on August 17 and 18 in Edmonton, Alberta, CA.
Saturday, August 17th, The Highlevel Bridge Professional Downhill Skateboarding Race will take place. Longboard racers, sporting full face helmets and leather suits, will become high-powered machines as they careen down a steep and technical course at blazing speeds. To receive the gold medal and the $1,000 1st place prize at the $2,500 podium, the champion will need to win every single race. There is no room for error and spectators can expect some intense head-to-head racing excitement. The race is family friendly and free to watch. Food trucks will be serving food all day long. The race will take place at Kinsmen Field House. Registration will take place at 9:00 AM and the main race will begin at 12:00 PM and last until approximately 4:00 PM.
Sunday, August 18th, The Ribbon of Green UltimateEndurance 20km Longboard Race will take place. 200+ racers of all ages will compete in the 7th annual ROGUE race. The 20km course starts of with a mass start and stretches from Hermitage Park to Government House Park along Edmonton's trail system. The race is suitable for all skill levels. The race is famous for being the most technically challenging distance race to win. The winner will have to display unparalleled uphill pushing power, as well as, downhill racing skills. In a statement earlier this week, IDSA founder Jonathan Strauss mentioned, "We look forward to growing and formalizing this event and the sport of longboarding in Canada in the years to come." The winner will take home bragging rights, a beautiful custom built RAYNE longboard and a $1,000 first place prize on a $2,500 podium. The endurance race ends with a BBQ at the finish line to accompany longboard games and contests. Registration ends at 9:00 AM. Race starts at 10:00 AM. The first riders will be crossing the finish line by 10:50 AM.
