LocalGrid Technologies to Give Keynote Presentation at the NIWeek 2013 Energy Technology Summit
Mississauga, Ontario: (PRWEB) August 02, 2013 -- LocalGrid Technologies, an innovative Toronto-based software company, announced today that the companies CEO, Bob Leigh, will present a case study on LocalGrid’s technology and application for distribution utilities. Leigh’s keynote address is part of the Energy Technology Summit at NIWeek 2013 in Austin Texas.
With nearly $2.5 million in government funding, LocalGrid has been working with utilities to develop distributed intelligence solutions to more effectively manage distributed generation sources while reducing infrastructure investment required to manage growth and replacement of aging infrastructure.
In October 2012, LocalGrid and its utility partner kicked off a two-year demonstration period at Exhibition Place. The mixed-use district is home to Canada’s largest entertainment venue and has a variety of distributed generation installations. In April 2013, testing began with the National Instruments CompactRIO and LocalGrid eGridOS™ software that will manage, monitor and ultimately control renewable generation assets.
LocalGrid, along with technology partner National Instruments, will demo its next-generation energy management platform and jointly present a case study with Canada’s largest municipal electric distribution utility. This case study will present the challenges faced by the utilities today, how these challenges can be met in the future, and how LocalGrid and NI technology is enabling these solutions. The keynote presentation is titled “Transforming the Distribution Power Grid Using Distributed Control and Analytics.”
LocalGrid’s keynote presentation will take place on August 5th, 2013 at 1:00 PM CST during Day 1 of the Energy Technology Summit at NIWeek. NIWeek is the world’s leading graphical system design conference and exhibition hosted by National Instruments. More than 3,200 engineers, educators and scientists from around the world are expected to attend the conference.
